About me
I am excited to be running as a school board candidate for the Gettysburg Area School District (GASD). Being on the school board is one of the biggest investments I can make to ensure that today’s students have the knowledge and skills they need to follow their dreams and become successful adults in the community. I also believe that partisan politics does not belong on the school board.
As a former Naval Program Manager with over 35 years of government experience, I know the value of teamwork. I understand that it takes many disciplines to work together to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our sailors and marines. I know there are just as many disciplines to educate and assure the safety and wellbeing of today’s students. I have experience in preparing and managing budgets worth millions of dollars that balance needs, wants, and desires against taxpayers’ dollars. Because of my exceptional government service, I received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Department of the Navy.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace & Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech and Master of Science in Engineering Science from Pennsylvania State University.
My husband and I moved to the Gettysburg area in 2017. I have given back to the community by helping prepare future U.S. citizens for their citizenship test, checking in voters as a former poll worker, was treasurer for the women’s group at my church and am active in a variety of Gettysburg area initiatives and events.
My husband and I have three married children and six grandchildren.
